Susan's Visit

We had a picnic at Brandy Creek

We also went out to see the very full Shasta Lake. The girls also made art with Aunt Soozee and we just generally enjoyed her presence!

May

Our month started out with a visit from my Mom, Tex and Marty (their new dog), who were on their way North. The kids had lots of fun walking, fishing and playing with them! We're glad we got to be the first stop!
Luke was sick on Mother's Day so the 2 of us stayed home, but Steve didn't forget. He brought me home these beautiful roses and our friends brought a feast! It was a great day!
That day was topped when we saw this:
A healthy 17 week old, due in October! A few days later I found Ava with her own baby brewing :-) Let's just say everyone is excited!

It has been unseasonably cold but that hasn't stopped the kids from enjoying the backyard. Plus, our month was topped off with a visit from my favorite sister and a family barbeque. So many blessings!

Avaism

“This is splendid, I still have my jammies on!” said by Ava while eating lunch today.

What we're reading

Since we've ended our phonics program for this year, Naomi has been writing out Psalm 23, a phrase at a time, and we've been ready "Sammy and His Shepherd." It's a lovely explanation of Psalm 23 for children. In addition there are questions and more scripture to go along with each chapter. This has been great since there are lots of questions that go along with phrases like, "my cup overflows." My concrete thinking 5 year old understands Sammy and Precious's (the main characters) journey with their shepherd much more that David's straight poetry.

My house would be a lot cleaner if this vaccuum actually worked!

Luke pushed this around and around the house. He got quite frustrated when the vaccuum didn't do exactly what he wanted and when he had to go over the molding edge. I'm pretty sure this is the Hunnell genes kicking in. :-)
